At Community Eye Center, our focus is your eye care. If your cornea is damaged, the light that enters the eye is distorted causing the image you see to be blurry. A cornea may become damaged in several ways, including, but not limited to, injury, disease, infection or previous eye surgery. Sometimes damage to a particular cornea is mild enough that it may be repaired to restore the person’s vision; if not, often a corneal transplant is necessary.
Your cataract procedure is performed at our Port Charlotte facility in St. Lucy’s Outpatient Surgery Center and generally takes less than 15 minutes. Our patient’s experience very little to no discomfort and sleep through the procedure. To assist the doctors in selecting the right lens for you, we encourage you to complete our “Premium Lens Self-Evaluation test.” Once completed, a member from our staff will contact you. It’s a valuable tool to help assess your individual lifestyle needs so we choose the most appropriate IOL for you.
If you are considering LASIK or Multifocal IOLs for cataract surgery, we have numerous financing options to meet your many needs.
Patients undergo procedures to improve their peripheral vision, to relieve the weight on their corneas caused by excess skin, and to improve the symptoms of "tired eyes". These procedures are done in our state-of-the-art surgery center where our patients are given IV sedation and discharged after as little as 1 - 2 hours. Upper eyelid blepharoplasty is performed through a skin crease incision, through which excess fat can be removed if necessary. There are two fat pads in the upper lid, the medial and central.
