J. Davis Mungenast, L.D.O., began his career
in the optical industry in Knoxville, while
attending the University of Tennessee.
He trained as a dispensing optician and lab
technician at a large optical company.
In 1999, Davis moved to Florida and continued
working as a lab technician. He was quickly
promoted to management. Over the next 10
years, he managed a retail optical lab, an
optical retail store, a private optometry
practice, and finally the optical department
for a large ophthalmology practice.
Also during that time, Davis became licensed
in Florida as an optician and earned his
Bachelor of Science degree in Business
Administration from the University of Florida’s
Warrington College of Business.
Davis joined the team at Community Eye
Center in 2009, and resides in Port Charlotte,
FL with his wife and two daughters, who are
all Gator fans.
